I propose to take Questions Nos. 82 and 84 together.

As you will be aware, under the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (as amended), the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána, including Garda training matters. As Minister, I have no role in this regard.

I have been informed by the Garda Authorities that two Steyr rifle refresher courses were conducted to date in 2024.

I am further advised that the Benelli M3 shotgun is an obsolete weapon and has been taken out of service by An Garda Síochána, and that no training courses were held to date in 2024.
