The Report of the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the Dublin and Monaghan bombings led by the late Mr Justice Henry Barron was published in December 2003.
A sub-committee of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence and Women’s Rights was established to consider the Report and produce recommendations. These recommendations were published in March 2004 as the Final Report on the Report of the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings.
Mr. Justice Barron made clear in his report (pages 12-20), and in his presentation to the Joint Oireachtas sub-committee, that he was satisfied that his Inquiry received all relevant documentation from official sources in this State that had not been lost or destroyed over time.
