The Employment Permits Section of my Department informs me that a Critical Skills Employment Permit application for the person concerned in the details supplied was received on 5th May 2024. On 7th May 2024 the application was formally accepted and placed in the processing queue.

Applications for employment permits are dealt with in date order. As of 10th June 2024, the Employment Permits Section are processing new applications in respect of standard employers which were received on 2nd May 2024.

It is expected that the application concerned will be considered shortly. However, as the application is in respect of a Critical Skills Employment Permit for a Chef and the rate of pay on offer is €34,000 it is expected that the application concerned will be rejected as the occupation concerned is not on the Critical Skills list for Employment Permits. It would however be eligible for a General Employment Permit once all the necessary criteria are met.

The Employment Permits processing times are updated on a weekly basis at the following link: enterprise.gov.ie/en/What-We-Do/Workplace-and-Skills/Employment-Permits/Current-Application-Processing-Dates/

There is also an Online Status Update Enquiry - where details on a particular application can be found on the following link: enterprise.gov.ie/en/What-We-Do/Workplace-and-Skills/Employment-Permits/Employment-Permit-Status-Form/
