163.To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to provide a breakdown of the current numbers and wait times for RSA CPC walkaround tests for both truck and bus drivers at each test centre, in tabular form; the reason for delays; and if a test can be expedited (details supplied) where the delay is preventing the offer of employment. The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has statutory responsibility for driver testing, driver licensing and the issuing of certificates of competency. This includes the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and its constituent components, including the walkaround test. Neither the Minister nor the Department have the power to intervene in individual cases. As such, I have referred the questions to the RSA for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
Pending this more detailed information, the CPC walkaround test can be conducted either at the same time as the truck/bus (category C) practical test or as a stand-alone test. If a candidate has applied for a CPC walkaround test, they can expect a booking invitation usually within 10-12 weeks. However, this can take longer in some centres where demand for testing is high.
