The Oversight Agreement between the Charities Regulator and my Department states that the Minister and the Chair and Chief Executive of the Regulator should meet formally once a year.
I met formally with the Chair and the Chief Executive of the Charities Regulator on 27 September 2023. A new Chair, Mr. Gerry Kearney, was appointed to the Charities Regulator on 28 February 2024, and I met with Mr Kearney on 26 May. Mr Kearney also met with Minister Heather Humphreys on 15 May. Minister Humphreys also met with the previous Chair, Mr. Patrick Hopkins, on 6 July 2023.
The process to appoint a new Chief Executive of the Charities Regulator is currently in progress, and I intend to meet the successful candidate as soon as practicable after their appointment.
Officials from my Department hold more regular formal and informal meetings with the Chief Executive and other officials from the Regulator.
