Under the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) Regulations, retailers are required to ensure that the take-back facilities they provide on their premises are accessible to all individuals wishing to return empty containers.

With the advice of the National Disability Authority, Re-turn, the DRS operator, is embarking on an engagement process that will examine accessibility issues in line with best practice. An advisory group has been established by Re-Turn and includes representatives from a number of disability organisations. The group had its first meeting on 6th June. Re-turn is available to support individuals who have difficulties in returning bottles and cans to their local retailer.
