I propose to take Questions Nos. 368 and 395 together.
I received the Report of the Housing Commission on 8 May and published it in full very soon thereafter on 22 May. The Commission’s work has taken two-an-a-half years to conclude, culminating in a 400 plus page report (including appendices), and 83 recommendations and 540 or so actions and sub-actions.
Accordingly, it requires measured and comprehensive consideration before action, beyond what is already underway, is taken. I have referred the Commission’s report and proposals to the Housing Agency for a full analysis of costings, implementation timelines and prioritisation of the Commission’s recommendations, as well as the feasibility of proposed actions. These matters were not addressed in the report and are critical for a full and proper consideration of the Commission’s proposals.
The report, together with the Housing Agency conclusions, will help inform consideration of the forthcoming Housing for All action plan update, which I intend to bring to Government with my proposals for next steps in the autumn.
