The Government is fully committed to the fight against racism, and strongly condemns the actions of those who abuse and attack others because of their own prejudices regarding a person’s religion, ethnic origins, sexual orientation or any other part of their identity as a human being. Any such behaviour is not acceptable.
If an employee within the tourism sector, or indeed any other sector, believes their employment rights have been breached, they have the right to refer complaints to the Workplace Relations Commission for adjudication and compensation where appropriate.
In terms of the tourism sector, Fáilte Ireland is already collaborating with employers to drive best practices and build employer capability in areas such as effective people management, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace, Dignity at Work, and Meeting Employer Obligations, including guidance on the new national code for preventing bullying and harassment.
