The large scale capital project at the school referred to by the Deputy is at an advanced stage of Architectural Planning Stage 3 - Tender Action and Award.
The authorisation to issue the Letter of Intent for the Completion Works contract issued in April 2024, as per procurement rules, there is a standstill period, following which, should the completion works contractor accept, a Letter of Acceptance can issue. Only when the Letter of Acceptance has issued is there a contract in place to enable construction to commence and all the contract terms and conditions apply.
Once the completion works contractor has been appointed, it is expected that it will take approximately 15 months to complete the project.
The provision of extra classroom accommodation as referenced by the Deputy is also to be provided under the completion works contract by the contractor.
