317. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the status of the provision of a new primary and secondary school in Rush, County Dublin, given the population increase in the area, with a lack of school places for new families moving into the area; when these much-needed schools will be delivered; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Campus project to which the Deputy refers has been devolved for delivery to CEIST.
The project was recently approved to progress to Stage 2b of the architectural planning design process. This stage of the process allows for detailed design/planning, obtaining the necessary statutory permissions and the preparation of tender documents. In advance of the necessary statutory permissions and the outcome of the subsequent stage of procuring a building contractor, it is not possible at this time to give a date for its completion.
However, I can assure the Deputy that my Department is committed to ensuring appropriate school accommodation is available for the children in Rush. CEIST will continue to engage directly with the school community to keep it fully informed of progress.
