To ask the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth the child protection measures that are in place at the IPAS centre at Abbey Manor, Dromahair, County Leitrim; if he will provide a copy of the child safeguarding statement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. When new accommodation centres open, IPAS engages with centre management in respect of Child Safeguarding, which includes the provision of advice and support in developing the Child Safeguarding Statement and in relation to the requirements of the TUSLA Child Safeguarding Statement Compliance Unit (CSSCU). The CSSCU is the dedicated unit within TUSLA set up to ensure that all providers’ Child Safeguarding Statements (CSS) are compliant with the requirements of the Children First Act 2015.
Abbey Manor Hotel opened on 2 May 2024 and as part of that process IPAS has engaged with centre management in respect of Child Safeguarding. The printed Child Safeguarding Statement is being prepared will be displayed in the accommodation centre shortly.
The IPAS Child Safeguarding Statement* was deemed compliant by the TUSLA CSSU and is published on the IPAS website.
