191. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the extent to which he proposes to maximise sufficient places on commuter trains serving north Kildare with a view to ensuring that sufficiently seating places are available throughout the journey in both directions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.
The Deputy's query in relation to capacity on commuter trains serving north Kildare is an operational matter for Iarnród Éireann and I have therefore forwarded the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
