158. To ask the Minister for Finance further to Parliamentary Question No. 321 of 7 March 2023, to estimate the cost to the Exchequer if the planned increase in excise duty on petrol and diesel does not go ahead; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [41089/23]

I am informed by Revenue that the cost of not proceeding with the 31 October 2023 increase on petrol, diesel and MGO for a year is approximately €296m.
