115. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment further to Parliamentary Question No. 110 of 28 February 2023, the status of the small-scale generation support scheme; the expected timeline for the launch of the scheme; the details of the community participation element of the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Small Scale Generation Scheme (SSGS) will support non-domestic renewable electricity generators above 50kW, but smaller than those supported under the RESS. This scheme will enable community projects, larger businesses, farms, and public buildings to maximise their participation in the energy transition.
The scheme proposes to support applicants to install renewable electricity generators up to 1MW, with 100% Renewable Energy Community (REC) projects to be supported up to 6MW.
My Department is currently progressing the SSGS and I expect to publish the High Level Design in the coming weeks and launch the scheme by the end of the year.
