912. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection regarding the recommendations of the Review Report of the Gender Recognition Act 2015, published in November 2019, if she intends to simplify the path to legal gender recognition for children aged 16 and 17 years; and, if so, if she will indicate a timeframe in which this will happen. The General Scheme of a Bill to amend the Gender Recognition Act was referred to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Social Protection, Community and Rural Development and the Islands for pre-legislative scrutiny by my predecessor in 2019.

It is not possible at present to indicate a specific timeframe for when this process will be complete.

I trust that this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
