43. To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if he will outline any improvements made to introduce a minimum time for the processing of applications for work permits for non-EEA workers in the hospitality sector, in which there is a critical shortage of available skilled workers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There was a significant increase in applications for employment permits in 2021 and 2022, which led to delays in processing times. Following the implementation of an internal action plan the number of applications awaiting processing has now significantly reduced in all sectors including the hospitality sector. Processing times are currently running at 4-7 business days.

The table below shows the current processing dates as of 3rdMarch in respect of each permit type.
