183. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment the area of land covered by gorse and heather and so on that has been burned nationwide; how many tonnes of CO2 have been released into the atmosphere from the period 1 September 2022 to 28 February 2023; if this CO2 is included in agriculture emissions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no function in relation to the matter raised in the Question. The burning of vegetation, such as gorse and heather, is governed by the Wildlife Act which is a matter for my colleague the Minister for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
