660. To ask the Minister for Health if he will provide a schedule of NGOs to which he and the HSE suspended funding and-or grant aid due to their failure to file accounts and-or concerns arose in respect of their governance in the years 2019 to 2022 and to date in 2023; and the amount of funding per NGO that was suspended. The vast majority of my Department's funding goes to support the HSE and a variety of other statutory and non-statutory health agencies (such as the Health Information Quality Authority and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland) which would be considered State Bodies under the 2016 Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies and which would therefore not be considered within the scope of non governmental organisations (NGOs) queried by the Deputy.

However, my Department also funds various NGOs from time to time, through various funding initiatives such as the Healthy Ireland Fund and the Sláintecare Integration Fund.

In this regard, I can confirm that the Department has not withheld funding from any NGOs within the timeframe noted by the Deputy as a result of either a failure to supply accounts on time or arising from any other governance concerns.

The Deputy's question has also been referred to the HSE for a direct reply in relation to NGOs which the HSE funds directly.
