217. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if her attention has been drawn to the campaign to repatriate the remains of a person (details supplied) from Belgium to Ireland; if her Department will assist with the repatriation effort given the cultural and historical significance of the person and the tourism implications for the Irish location chosen as the final resting place for his remains; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I have no function in the repatriation of the remains of the person cited in the Deputy's question. Given the complexity of issues related to the exhumation and repatriation of remains generally, all of which fall outside the remit of my Department, I am not in a position to assist such activities.
