69. To ask the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the non–EU rural GP programme; if his Department and the Government are supportive of same; if the strategic review of GP services that is due to commence shortly will consider this programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department are aware of the proposed programme concerned. The strategic review of GP services, which is to commence shortly, will examine the broad range of issues affecting general practice in general and in rural areas specifically, and will identify measures necessary to deliver a sustainable general practice. This programme and other initiatives that could support rural general practice will be considered.
