132. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if there are many Cvil Service pensions that were eligible for the pension increases that took place on 1 October 2022; the number of these pensions that have had the increases applied; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, I have overall policy responsibility in relation to civil service pension schemes, and for the National Shared Service Office (NSSO) which makes pension payments to retired civil servants.
Over 29,000 Civil Service Pensioners (approximately 96% of Civil Service Pensioners) will be receiving their increases for the 1st October 2022 on the 25th of November.
There are still a number of pensioners whose records are being manually reviewed, where the pay scale they retired from was not in line with standard pay scales. As not all civil service pensioners are necessarily eligible for the increase, checks must be done to ensure they are correctly applied.
