530. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the Chinese state is operating a police overseas service station in Dublin; her views on whether this could lead to the development of a parallel system of policing in the State; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the reported presence of the so-called ‘Fuzhou Police Oversees Station’ in this jurisdiction.
I understand that the matter has been raised with the Embassy of China by officials in the Department of Foreign Affairs and inquiries are ongoing in this regard. Officials in my Department will continue to liaise with the Department of Foreign Affairs in addressing the matter.
I can assure the Deputy that there can and will be no question of a 'parallel system of policing' in the State.
