In relation to the specific query raised, the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) has advised my Department that to the end of August 2022, the NTPF has incurred expenditure of €39m with respect to treatments arranged directly with private hospitals.
The NTPF has also advised that as well as funding treatment fully provided by public hospitals, the NTPF also funds public hospitals where arrangements have been made by them with private providers for treatment of public patients. These are not included in the figure of €39m.
