288. To ask the Minister for Health further to Parliamentary Question No. 1508 of 8 September 2022, if his Department will legislate on a national level for the display of calorie information on individual bottles and cans of alcohol products not just on the larger containers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Further to my answer to Parliamentary Question No. 1508, section 12 of the Public Health (Alcohol) Act on alcohol labelling applies to all alcohol containers. As set out in section 2 of the Act, "container" means, in relation to an alcohol product, a bottle or other container.

A resumption of work on the development of legislation for mandatory calorie posting is not planned at this time. The public health legislation priorities of my Department are kept under continuous review.
