To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the number of applications that were made for the exceptional needs' payment by constituency or county to date in 2022; if there is information or details relating to the reason that each application was made, for example to cover fuel costs; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department provides individuals who have an urgent or exceptional income need which they cannot meet from their own resources or where an alternative is not available at that time with access to the Additional Needs Payment. The Additional Needs Payment covers both Urgent Needs and Exception Needs payments.

Table 1 shows the breakdown of closed applications for Additional Needs Payment in 2022 by county up to 30th June. Table 2 shows the total number of Additional Needs Payments applications received/awarded/disallowed in 2022 up to 30th June.
