To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the value of overpaid cash fares to Dublin Bus in each of the years 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, in tabular form; if the money is held by Dublin Bus or used for some other purpose following the ending of the opportunity for bus passengers to recoup their overpaid cash fare in 2018; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operation of public transport services.

The query raised regarding overpaid cash fares to Dublin Bus in each of the years 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 is an operational matter for Dublin Bus. Accordingly, I have referred the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.
