20. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if his attention has been drawn to the loss of the Fingal Express bus service serving persons across north Fingal; if he will engage with public bus operators and negotiate to ensure a comparable service is provided immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for securing the provision of public passenger transport services nationally and is responsible for the licensing of public bus passenger services under the provisions of the Public Transport Regulation Act 2009. Therefore, I have forwarded the Deputy's question in relation to the Fingal Express bus service to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
