280. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the supports that are available for a bus service (details supplied) which had routes from Tallaght to the airport and from Maynooth to Dublin Airport; if such services are required to be licensed by the National Transport Authority; if so, if there are alternative plans to restore the service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for securing the provision of public passenger transport services nationally and is responsible for the licensing of public bus passenger services under the provisions of the Public Transport Regulation Act 2009. Therefore, I have forwarded the Deputy's question in relation to a bus service which had routes from Tallaght and Maynooth to Dublin Airport, to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if a response is not received within ten working days.
