146. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the efforts that his Department is making to ensure that there are meaningful and obligatory environmental, climate-friendly and fair-wage conditions incorporated into any new contracts for catering services on Irish Rail services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.
The issue of conditions incorporated into any new contracts for catering services on Irish Rail services is first and foremost a matter for Iarnród Éireann and I have therefore forwarded the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply.
