251. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if he will consider rolling out a noise amelioration grants programme for residents of Rathcoole, County Dublin similar to that which is available to UK residents near military airfield given that Rathcoole is located directly below the take and approach surfaces of runway 04 for Casement airdrome; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy may be aware that Casement aerodrome is the only operational military installation in the State and has been in operation since 1917. It is my understanding that the Air Corps have and continue to enjoy a good relationship with the residential and commercial communities in the surrounding environs.  I am advised that neither my Department nor the Air Corps are aware of any causes for or complaints being made arising from ongoing operations. In the circumstances, I do not have any plans to introduce a grant scheme along the lines suggested by the Deputy.
