To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the number of prosecutions of motorists in each of the past five years for failure to make progress and drive at the appropriate speed limit for the road and their vehicle under the rules of the road; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Prosecutions of road traffic offences are matters for the Director of Public Prosecutions and An Garda Síochána. My Department has no role in prosecutions and does not have any figures in this regard.
