1867. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if his Department and public bodies and agencies that operate under his remit run apprenticeship programmes or are directly engaged in the training of apprentices; if so, the number of apprentices involved; the specialties in which they are being trained; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department does not currently run any apprentice programmes and is not engaged in any training of apprentices. However, it is participating with other Departments in the development of a Public Service Apprenticeship Recruitment Plan as part of the Government's Action Plan for Apprenticeship 2021-2025.
The question of apprenticeship programmes in the State Agencies under the aegis of my Department is an operational matter and I will ask the Agencies to respond directly to the Deputy on this matter.
