212. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views on a policy matter concerning the provision of free bicycle parking spaces at Iarnród Éireann stations (details supplied); his further views on whether private, for-payment bicycle lockers may take preference over free bicycle racks at some stations; if he is in agreement that all stations that currently have private locking facilities should also have access to free bicycle racks; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

The issue raised is an operational matter for Iarnród Éireann and therefore I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
