I propose to take Questions Nos. 29 and 31 together.

As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operation of public transport. The National Transport Authority (NTA) has responsibility for the regulation of public transport fares charged to passengers in respect of public transport services provided under public service obligation (PSO) contracts and also for the collection and publication of statistics relating to public transport.

Therefore, I have forwarded the Deputy’s question in relation to the number of tickets sold and the breakdown by type on the Dublin to Galway and Dublin to Sligo train lines to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.
