232. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will carry out a review of the bus services being provided by a company (details supplied) for Dublin’s northside given that there is significant dissatisfaction being expressed by bus users with many scheduled services not turning up at all undermining the public’s confidence in public transport; his Department’s policy on ensuring the company’s services run on time and as scheduled; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport. The National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for securing the provision of public passenger transport services nationally and for the scheduling of these services in conjunction with the relevant transport operators.
Therefore, I have forwarded the Deputy’s question, in relation to the timetabling of Go-Ahead Ireland bus services to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.
