100. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if a change of payment details for a child benefit payment can be processed in the case of a person (details supplied); the reason that the information provided cannot be processed in the normal manner; the reason that the information is required to be provided by post; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Child Benefit is a monthly payment to the parents or guardians of children under 16 years of age. Child Benefit can also be claimed for children aged 16 and 17, if they are in full-time education or full-time training or have a disability and cannot support themselves.Customers who wish to change their Child Benefit payment method have two options:
- Register with MyGov.ie and have their ID verified to the necessary SAFE security level, or
- Submit the change request in writing, with a signature.
The use of these options is a standard requirement to verify the customers authority to change their payment details.
Child Benefit is only paid into one specified account per claimant.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
