Carer's Support Grant is paid to carers once per year, usually in June, at a rate of €1,850.
It is automatically paid to recipients of Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit and Domiciliary Care Allowance. Carers who are not in receipt of one of these payments may also qualify for the grant.
In 2021, 125,626 carers received the grant at a cost of €257.3m.
The 2022 allocation for Carer's Support Grant is €262.4m, to provide grants to an estimated 128,100 carers. It is a demand-led scheme so all carers who meet the qualifying criteria will receive a payment.
