1093. To ask the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth the number of refugees who have been accepted from the European Union evacuation missions from Afghanistan into the international protection system in Ireland; the number of Afghans who have applied separately for international protection since January 2020; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Thank you for your question Deputy. I can confirm that as of 13 January 2022, 405 refugees have been accepted from European Union evacuation missions from Afghanistan via the Irish Refugee Protection Programme (IRPP) in Ireland. The first group of people arrived on 23 August 2021.

Data on the number of people who apply for international protection is a matter for the Department of Justice.
