718. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills further to Parliamentary Question No. 326 of 7 December 2021, if she will consider a waiver of the five day rule whilst unqualified teachers, that is, third and fourth year students who are substituting during the Covid-19 pandemic given the reply received did not address the question. As recently announced, the Teaching Council is now working to put processes and procedures in place to support the registration and vetting of 3rd and 4th year student teachers. In addition, pending the development of those processes and procedures by the Teaching Council, the Department of Education is currently examining how the '5 day rule' is impacting 3rd and 4th year student teachers.
