To ask the Minister for Health if he will consider introducing a scheme to ease the cost burden on persons and families that for health reasons are forced to buy more expensive specific types of essential foodstuffs such as gluten free products; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Health Service Executive (HSE) has statutory responsibility for decisions on pricing and reimbursement of medicinal products under the community drug schemes in accordance with the provisions of the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013.
Therefore, I have asked the HSE to respond to the deputy directly, as soon as possible.
