The Department is committed to making sure that a skilled, motivated workforce is in place to meet its business needs and uses workforce planning to identify and address these requirements for all our locations.

Recruitment is currently underway in the Department and vacancies are being advertised by either the Public Appointments Service (PAS) or by my Department's Human Resources Division. I am cognisant of the need for farmers and members of the public to avail of efficient services, in a prompt manner, and all critical staffing vacancies are filled as soon as possible.

The Department’s 16 Regional Veterinary Offices currently have a complement of 738 staff working in them, and a total of 86 vacancies. Work is actively ongoing to fill these posts, with assignments expected in several locations in the immediate future.
