471. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if he was consulted by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine regarding the reduction in the space for nature element of CAP and the impact this would have on biodiversity; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is involved in a range of ongoing discussions with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in relation to the development of Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan, both as part of the CAP Consultative Committee and in bilateral meetings between the Departments. It would not be appropriate for me to comment on ongoing policy formation discussions with another Department, whom I would note, also has formal responsibilities in relation to biodiversity.
