According to the latest data available from the HSE Primary Care Reimbursement Service (1st September 2021), 1,563,946 individuals hold eligibility for a medical card, of which 173,915 were provided on a discretionary basis and 523,926 individuals hold eligibility for a GP Visit Card, of which 39,154 were provided on a discretionary basis.

Please note that the Primary Care Reimbursement Service publishes medical card and GP visit card numbers on a monthly basis on their website at www.hse.ie/eng/staff/pcrs/pcrs-publications/
