202. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport further to Parliamentary Question No. 129 of 3 March 2021, the reason there are no plans to change the 46a bus services at this time in view of the advantage it would offer to those accessing the bus service from Heuston Station; if routes from main transport hubs to hospitals in Dublin are regularly reviewed with regard to ease of connection; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

As explained to the Deputy in my response to Dáil Question No. 129 of the 3 March 2021, the National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for securing the provision of public passenger transport services nationally and for the actual routes of these services. Therefore, any decision in relation to a possible change to the 46A bus route would be a matter for the Authority to make and not one that I would have any role in. In view of this, I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply.

Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
