As the Deputy may be aware, in the 2020 Overview report of HIQA’s monitoring programme against the National Standards for Safer Better Maternity Services with a focus on obstetric emergencies, HIQA recommended that the HSE develop a comprehensive, time-bound and fully costed National Maternity Strategy implementation plan. On foot of that recommendation, the National Women & Infants Health Programme (NWIHP) has undertaken a revision of the original Implementation Plan for the Strategy with a view to developing a revised plan to cover the remainder of the Strategy's lifetime. This revised plan is currently in draft form and the Department continues to engage with the NWIHP to ensure the plan achieves the timely implementation of the Strategy’s recommendations.

As the Programme is the body with responsibility for this process, I am referring your question to them for direct reply to you, as soon as possible.
