To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment the details of correspondence with the Department of Foreign Affairs following the hacking of the phone of the Minister, Deputy Coveney, in 2020; if new procedures were initiated for security of Ministerial phones following this hacking; and if so, the details of the updated procedures. The National Cyber Security Centre does not comment on operational matters relating to the security of Government Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The security of the ICT systems of Government Departments is the responsibility of individual Departments.

The Department has no knowledge of the Minister’s phone being compromised or of any attempt at compromising the phone.
