734. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if the heads of the proposed national monuments and archaeological heritage Bill have been agreed; when they will be published; the timeframe in which the Bill is expected to undergo pre-legislative scrutiny and be brought forward to the Houses of the Oireachtas. Work on a revised General Scheme for the Monuments and Archaeological Heritage Bill is currently underway in my Department. It is my intention to write to the Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage and formally request pre-legislative scrutiny once all other requirements relating to the procedures governing the introduction of draft legislation have been completed.
I will move to publish the Bill once the Committee has issued its final report and any recommendations contained therein have been given due consideration by Government.
