To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine further to Parliamentary Question No. 597 of 29 June 2021, his views on whether it is appropriate that a person who admitted significant animal neglect would continue in a role in which they have responsibilities in relation to overseeing animal welfare. The Department expects all its staff to fully comply with the law, particularly in areas where it bears responsibility for that law.

Where an allegation that a member of staff has failed to do so is upheld, the Department acts robustly, and in accordance with the provision of fair procedures, to address the matter within the scope of the appropriate Civil Service policy.
