To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Irish students are being charged additional fees for the Scottish graduate-entry medicine programme based in the University of St. Andrews and the University of Dundee which contradicts the memorandum of understanding on the common travel area; the steps he will take to address the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials of my Department have been in touch with their counterparts in Scotland, who have confirmed that programme fees for the Graduate Entry Programme in Medicine is the same for Irish and the UK students (other than those from Scotland). However, I do understand that UK students are entitled to a bursary from the National Health Service, which amounts to £3,715, and this may account for the difference.

This approach is consistent with the Memorandum of Understanding on the Common Travel Area.
