98. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if he plans to ensure there is a refundable deposit for plastic bottles and aluminium cans that varies by container size as part of the proposed deposit and return scheme which was the preferred option in the most recent consultation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As set out in the recent consultation document on the proposed regulatory framework for the new Deposit and Return Scheme (DRS), my preferred option is to have variable deposits based on volume of the product. This will be provided for as a requirement for the compliance scheme operator in the final Regulations underpinning the scheme.
